Anna is an intellectual property lawyer. She headed a globally recognised IP practise specialising in attacking big pharma patents. It was high energy, required much coffee drinking, late hours and international travel. Eventually, she gave it up. For sleep. She wanted to help make a fundamental difference to health – one that did not come from tablets.
Anna founded Zeez Sleep with engineer Steve Walpole. Steve had been a top IBM engineer before a catastrophic accident in 1979 ended his world, as it was then. Using his skills to help himself, he had developed migraine devices using low power electrical pulses. These were sold in the early 90s under the names “Empulse”and “. Some are stull in use today. Great devices, but the business failed.
In 2012, Anna persuaded Steve to work with her and together they developed and tested the Zeez Sleep Pebble, an under the pillow device designed to prompt natural brain patterns of relaxation and deep sleep through the night.
Zeez Sleep launched a beta version of the Zeez Sleep Pebble at the SOMNEX sleep show in October 2018, when the Daily Mail announced
“Of all the tech here, the Zeez Sleep Pebble, a neuroscientific response to our permanently wired state, seems the most revolutionary…a seriously impressive piece of kit. ”
Anna cares about the quality of sleep. She wants us to have enough deep sleep so that we repair our body and our mind. The kind of slow wave sleep that is associated with a healthy immune system, healthy heart and clears protein debris from the brain. Sleeping meds impair that kind of sleep, and relaxation techniques may not be enough on their own, yet for health, we need a way to sleep deeply.
